In America females experience inequalities and discrimination primarily in education and at work. The reason why this occurs is because of cultural definitions and expectations that are held towards women and men in society. Although inequalities and discrimination towards women are prevalent the severity and amount is not as harsh as it once was. This change is due to powerful individuals such as, Lucy Burns, the founding leader of the National Women’s Party. She realized a change needed to occur and that women are not second cl citizens. Movements in the 1920’s and 1960’s have also created greater change towards women’s rights however, there are still some inequalities and discrimination that still exists.
