Vladimir Lenin and Karl Marx?

not sure exactly about Lenin's views on marxism and how it was an addition to the work of marx and engels but just to point a couple of things out. Lenin was the first communist leader of the USSR rather than a communist politician, Lenin's work was more an evolution of Marx's which was earlier. also what does american government have to do with either of them?
